[ Jade can't help but feel something is wrong this morning when she wakes up. She feels like she's missed something, almost like she's been asleep for a long time. She stumbles out of bed, feeling a little fuzzy, noticing the changes to her room. The window's been repaired, there's a backpack that she didn't have before with half finished homework on the desk. She doesn't really start to feel concerned until she looks at the calendar on her wall, which has been flipped over to October.

That can't be right.

She grabs it from the wall, bursts out into the hallway still in her nightgown and clutching it to her chest. ]

Karkat? Gamzee?

[ phone ]

Hi Mayfield! Long time no talk! Or maybe we did talk, but it wasn't me me, it was creepy drone me. I'm not really sure what happened, I can't remember anything since, hmmm, a couple weeks ago, I think, after the zombies. I don't remember going home, or being here, nothing! It's kind of scary, but I'm glad that I was a normal creepy drone and not a murderous creepy drone. I really hope that doesn't happen to me again. Have you ever had something like that happen to you? Not even just droning but, I don't know, something reeeeally creepy where you almost... don't exist. It's kind of scary.

Oh, and apparently I'm a girl scout now, hehe.

[ afternoon ; your front door ]

[ There is some pretty persistent knocking at your front door right now. If and when you get around to answering it, you will find Jade on your doorstep, wagon stacked high with boxes of cookies behind her. She is looking particularly adorable right now, all dressed up in a girl scout's uniform. ]

Hi!! Do you like cookies?

[ phone; fail filter to eridan ]

I'm really glad to be back. [ Even though she wasn't exactly aware of the fact that she was gone, she feels a strange sort of ache as a result of it. ] And now I really want to tell you something.

Winds up getting pulled off the bed with her and tumbles down onto the floor.]

[ At this point she really has no choice but to wait. Maybe if she stares at the floor and doesn't move it will be like she isn't here. ]

[The sad thing is if these were any other circumstances, this would probably work on Gamzee. But no, he is actually going to stay focused for this conversation! He can do it, he can!]

Hahaha, okay, shit. Don't go anywhere, okay? I ain't gonna bite or nothing. [He sits up and rubs his head, making sure to keep a firm grip on her wrist.] So how long has this all been going on?

[ Nooo there are so many shiny things that could be distracting him right now of all the times for him to be focused.

Jade sighs quietly, realizing her playing possum idea isn't going to work. She pushes herself up into a sitting position, cross legged on the floor. She plays with her hands and stares down into her lap, waiting to find her voice again. When she finally does it's a wavery sort of whisper. ]

Um, I don't know, for a couple of weeks? From before I got droned, I mean.

[Okay. This is...this is...this is definitely something he needs to run to Karkat for advice about. Sadly, he has no convenient telepathic power he can use, so he is stuck trying to muddle through this on his own. He sidles a little closer to her.]

So how do you know when you're all flushed for a motherfucker? Because I really do like you a whole lot, hivesis.

[ Jade's face burns with embarrassment, so she just keeps staring down at her lap even when he moves closer to her. ]

You do? [ It's a little squeaky, and she glances over at him briefly before glancing away again. ] I think it's something you just know, or feel, I'm not that good with this stuff.

Haha, I ain't real good at figuring this kind of shit out either. But a brother's gotta follow what his heart up and tells him to, you know? And what mine's all saying right now is...[he smiles a little shyly and moves his hand from her wrist to cover her own] I wouldn't mind trying to figure it out with you.

[ Jade's grinning now, biting her lower lip to keep said smile from looking too huge and doofy. She turns her hand over and threads her fingers with his. ]

[He grins, leans down to kiss her...

...and then jerks back, looking frantic.]

Oh, fuck.

[ wh- oh, faked out. and the way he jerked away is not doing her confidence any favors right now. ]

Oh, um, [ and she doesn't even know about the making out incident. ] I don't know.

[well, as far as Gamzee's concerned, friends can totally make out all the time they want if they're not in a relationship already! so that's not a big deal for him. stealing his bro's flush crush, on the other hand, totally is.]

Awwwauaugh, he really likes you in a flushed way, hivesis. I don't know if I could all be doing that to one of my best buddies.

[ Jade sighs, leans against him and lets her head drop onto his shoulder. ]

Yeah, I know. [ And she does sort of feel bad, even though she doesn't like him in the same way she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. ] But I don't feel the same way.

[He strokes a hand through her hair.]

I know. And it ain't fair to be asking you to. Besides...[he smiles at her and leans in to kiss her cheek] I don't think I really want you to be anyway.

[Which he feels awful about, that he's not working to make his friend as happy as possible, but the idea of Jade and Tavros being flushed for each other makes his chest ache with something he can't identify.]

[ She sighs again, but this time it's happy, content. Jade lifts her head off his shoulder when he kisses her cheek, smiling shyly at him. ]

Gamzee... [ She just murmurs his name, with nothing to follow. For now, she thinks it's okay to not think about anyone else, maybe just be happy for a few minutes. Happy to be back, happy to see him, and happy to, well... he is a pretty good kisser, and she is maybe just making sure of that right now. ]

[He's still feeling pretty uncertain about this, but not thinking happens to be one of Gamzee's strengths, so he returns the kiss without hesitation. And he's had plenty of practice by now, so this time he remembers to watch his teeth while he kisses her back.]

[ While Gamzee may be a serial make outer, Jade hasn't had quite so much practice, no to mention it's been a while since sloppy makeouts were had. Despite that her enthusiasm is certainly there, and it's good that he's mindful of the fangs because she isn't paying too much attention. ]

[Been a while for her, maybe...Gamzee should probably feel bad about that, but she was droned, he had no idea she was flushed for him, and again, nothing wrong with some friendly makeouts! He keeps the kiss sweet and slow, sighing a little into her mouth.]

Jade shifts herself around a bit, onto her knees so she can lean in closer, one hand resting tentatively against his cheek. This is only their first (second?) uninterrupted non emotional trauma related make out, she is still figuring this out. ]

[He takes advantage of his height to deepen the kiss, tilting her head back and her chin forward and pressing harder against her lips. And okay, his ridiculously long canines are definitely starting to get in the way now, he really needs to figure out what to do about that.]
