Personality: At first glance, Jade is a bubbly, sillier than usual 13 year old girl with a knack for making friends and being enthusiastic. She is typically cheerful and supportive, optimistic even in dire situations. She is more naive than even your typical 13 year old, having spent most of her life alone, with only her dog-guardian Bec for company. Most of her life has been very sheltered, growing up on an isolated island, with her computer and the internet being her only connection to the rest of the world. There haven't been people in her life to teach her the danger that can come with trusting others, so she is likely to lend someone her trust with little prompting. This doesn't mean that her trust is easy to keep, and her bad side is one that you don't want to be on. When it comes to dealing with someone she doesn't like, Jade's usual response is to just ignore them. If ignoring them doesn't work, flipping the fuck out at them is also a viable option. Her personality does a 180 in her frustration. Jade doesn't respond particularly well to weepy pessimism either, and if words fail, slapping you to your senses is always an option. Jade doesn't have high tolerance for harassment, and is far easier to win her over with the same kindness that she will inevitably show you.

In some ways, Jade lags behind her friends in maturity, largely in part to her upbringing. She loves Squiddles and anthropomorphic fauna, but also has a fondness for nuclear physics and horticulture. Her intelligence is not hampered by her maturity, it just changes the way she expresses it. Despite being less mature than her friends, Jade is not lacking in the bravery department. She'll do just about anything to protect her friends, including being crushed by a moon for them. With much of her life spent in isolation, her friends are her world, and have shaped who she is. Jade is dedicated to her friends without question, and does not hesitate to put their well being first. She also engages in battle with Bec Noir with little hesitation, despite generally being a pacifist. Jade knows that sometimes there's no option but to fight, and when that time comes she puts everything she has into it. This can sometimes backfire in her becoming a bit careless, accidentally harming her friends despite her attempts to protect them. This

Jade is a very eccentric girl, even without her odd interests. She has spent a lot of time dealing with problems of narcolepsy, which have caused her to almost spend more time asleep than awake. These narcoleptic attacks allowed her to live through her dream self (as well as her dream bot, which allowed her to keep in touch in the "real" world, until both were destroyed) and she witnessed events of the past, present and future while in her dreams. Spending so much time with her head literally in the clouds has played a large part in her personality as we know it. This knowledge makes her sometimes seem sometimes cryptic or prophetic, and has given her something of an advantage without even participating in the game. She is shown to be very resourceful, using this knowledge to maintain stable time loops as well as implement some tricky time shenanigans. Although she has an uncanny knack for memory games, her actual memory isn't so great, causing her to keep an assortment of colorful reminders on her fingers so that she can keep things straight.

All the unusual events in her life have taught her to adapt easily to new, strange situations. She shares her Grandpa's love of adventure, and especially eager to do something with her friends. Jade falls pretty clearly into the role of a support character, orchestrating events to help her friends succeed while paying less attention to her own advancement. This is a role that she's quite happy to fill, preferring to support and encourage her friends than be the big damn hero herself. She is well versed in the art of getting shit done, and is always there to help things move along. She believes in her friends and their abilities, and does everything she can to keep morale up and things moving smoothly, all while being upbeat and a little silly! :)

Abilities: In the webcomic she possesses an inventory system known as a sylladex, allowing her to carry an assortment of items without actually having to carry them. Her sylladex can take any item regardless of size or weight and essentially turn it into an easy to carry card, which in her case can be retrieved later by matching it via a memory card game. This seems like something that could manifest as an "ability".

Beyond that, Jade's strife specibus (what she uses to fight in her world) is rifle kind, meaning she is quite skilled with firearms, especially rifles. She is shown to use various kinds of rifles (from mundane hunting rifles and harpoon guns to crazy atom bomb firing guns) with ease, despite being a child. Hypothetically speaking Jade could come into HBG armed to the teeth with weaponry, but I suspect the goods would be shaken out of her, hehe.

For all the strange situations she had ever found herself in, this one was certainly near the top. Not quite the number one slot, but maybe somewhere in the top five, or ten. Definitely strange, and a little scary, although any fear she might have isn't outwardly reflected. Instead, she just seems thoughtful, worried, swinging her legs back and forth over the edge of the couch. She's been stuck here, waiting and feeling helpless, shut in thanks to this "darkness". Jade has tried to leave once, and after sharply being warned against it, has settled for lingering in the lobby and hoping for responses to her message over the network.

Answer come slowly over this strange message board, friendly strangers pointing out little bits of information, but none of it is quite the answer she thought it would be. This world is so weird in its refusal to be the same sort of weird that she's used to. Jade pulls off her spectagoggles, letting them rest in her lap. Right now, she needs a little time to think, and as much as she'd like to be able to enjoy meeting all these new people, there's far too much on her mind for her to relax. Jade sinks back in the couch, considering heading up to the apartment she's been given, ultimately choosing to remain here, where she can easily pretend that she isn't alone. Frustrated fingers fumble with the goggles for the nth time since her arrival, trying to connect to something familiar, to her web browser, pesterchum, anything that might give her a hard line to the information she actually needs.

Nothing. Only this same, stupid network that she is getting seriously tired of seeing.

By now, she's used to this sort of thing, waiting to be brought up to speed by someone else. This is the first time she's felt so helpless about it. She briefly debates heading up to the apartment they've given her and trying to get some sleep, just to see what happens. Ultimately she decides against this, not wanting to potentially miss out on something important in the mean time. Part of her might be just the slightest bit afraid of what dreaming here might be like. With a quiet sigh she slides from the couch, briefly considering making a run for the door and just leaving anyway, against these stranger's recommendations. She follows her rationale instead, resigning herself to the slow climb towards her temporary home.

Daylight can't come soon enough.
