[ so the previous day you likely noticed that Jade was a happy, cheerful drone! fortunately, today she is back to her normal self, up bright and early and just a little confused, all things considered. but for now, she's settled herself down at the breakfast table, humming and working at a bowl of cereal.

everything seems pretty normal, save for the pair of dog ears she's now sporting. ]

Hi Mayfield, it's Jade! [ wow she sounds super excited! breeeeathe! ] I have so much to tell you!

I went home! I'm not really sure how, or if that kind of thing happens a lot but I went home and I don't think I remembered being here or what but it's really weird! I'm also not sure why I'm back but I guess I'm kind of glad because now I can tell everyone-- or maybe I'm not supposed to say anything! Does anyone know anything about that, I mean, I don't want to spoil anything for my friends who don't know what's going to happen.

Timelines are getting kind of difficult to keep track of, maybe I should make a list.

Anyway, does this going home thing happen a lot? Because I keep getting pulled out at kind of inconvenient times!

[ action ; around mayfield ]

[ Jade is quite active around Mayfield today, once again having donned her girl scouts uniform, but without the wagon of cookies in tow. She's chopped some holes into her hat to accommodate her newly regained ears, and is approaching just about everyone, be they girl or otherwise, with the intention of recruitment. ]

Hi, did you know that you look like you would make an excellent girl scout?

[ She follows him inside, plops herself down in the swing beside him and lets her legs dangle. Now that they're actually here she seems a little hesitant to speak. Karkat had said they can't trust him, but she does, and he might be one of the few people she can talk to about this. ]

[He's quiet. He's not going to prompt her to speak until she wants to, because she does seem to be rather... off. Considering what Karkat had said about his world, it's possible she experienced something really horrible.

So he just gives her a comforting smile before continuing to swing gently.]

[ She kicks her legs unevenly, just stalling now, trying to think of what she actually wants to say, or how to explain everything. ]

Um, okay, I think it might be easiest to start at the very beginning of everything, and just explain from there, so you don't get confused.

Alright, so-- [ and after a deep breath, Jade proceeds to explain all of homestuck. Once she's started she gets pretty wrapped up in it, talking faster and faster. I am not typing out everything (anything) she's saying because you are a homestuck and also hell naw.

Once she's finally stopped talking she looks almost out of breath, and a little drained. ]

So I got pulled out right when I was doing all this planet stuff, and I'm ahead of everyone else now.

...I see.

Well. You definitely can't tell anyone their future. Don't want to go ripping a hole in the universe more than you already have.

[he swings, thoughtfully.]

I'm ahead of everyone from my world too. I'll be honest Jade, it's tough and a bit lonely.

Yeah, I mean, I used to know a little more than everyone else, but that didn't last very long. The way it is now feels different.

[ She sighs, looks over at him. ]

You are?

[He looks at her and nods.]

Yes, by about a year or so. It's not really the fun kind of timetravel at all. But I've managed. And you can too. You're brilliant, after all.

[ Her smile disappeared while talking, but it's starting to return now, small and shy. ]

You really think so?

[he smiles at her.]

I know so. Absolutely would take out a large bet on it.

I think you are a really good dad, even though I have never had one before, and can't really compare it to anything.

Having a brilliant girl for a daughter helps.

[he leans over and plants a kiss in the top of her head.]

[ ohhhkay now that grin is back and she is sliding off the swing, arms outstretched for a hug. ]

[he grins when she does and pulls her against his chest, stroking her hair with his thumb.]

Everything is going to be absolutely alright.

[ she is squeezing this hug for all it's worth. when she speaks it's pretty quiet, muffled against his chest. ]

Do you think it would be weird if I called you Dad?

[he inhales sharply and she probably hears his hearts skip a beat. He is silent for a while, still stroking her hair, before he exhales.]

Well. If you're alright having a skinny, quirky alien for a dad.

[ She tilts her head back to look up at him, biting her lip to keep from grinning too much, if such a thing is possible. ]

I am very alright with that.

Good.

So am I.

[pulls her into his lap.]

[ She curls up happily there. ]

I'm really glad you're here.

Glad to be here. Much less lonely.

[have another kiss on the top of the head]

You won't ever be lonely again if I can help it!

Oh. Don't worry I'm alright. Never been better.

Promise! How can I be lonely living with you lot?

That's a good question. We are very interesting company.
